Several tourists have decided to approach this Thursday the coast of Los Hervideros despite the warning for strong swell declared in Lanzarote due to the passage of storm Therese, creating a very dangerous image given the height of the waves.
In the images sent by a citizen to this outlet, it can be seen how some of these people go down to the area closest to the sea and where run the risk of being swept away by one of the waves.
Furthermore, it can also be seen how at a certain moment a group of tourists runs after being soaked by one of these waves which during this Thursday will be able to reach five meters in height.
Lanzarote and La Graciosa, like the rest of the archipelago, are this Thursday under yellow alert for adverse coastal phenomena, wind and rain. The swell will be force seven, with combined sea from the west, which may bring waves of four to five meters.
Likewise, it should be remembered that this area of the southwest coast of Lanzarote is one of the most dangerous and has claimed several lives in recent years. As you will recall, last January a young tourist died after being dragged by the waves in Los Charcones along with three other friends who were able to get out alive. This is the third victim in the last seven months on the southwest coast.
From the State Meteorological Agency and the Government of the Canary Islands recommend to the population to exercise extreme caution, avoid approaching the coast in exposed areas and suspend maritime and recreational activities.
