El Islote de Fermina will become "the first pet friendly public building" in Lanzarote starting next Monday, May 8. From that day on, pets "will be able to accompany their owners to enjoy all the good things that the emblematic space of the Marina de Arrecife offers", says Dolores Corujo.
It will become a place of acceptance for pets; in which they will be able to move, interact and develop without restrictions and with absolute naturalness; in addition, they will have full autonomy and will find water fountains to satisfy their needs, adds the CACT Lanzarote.
With this initiative, the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Tourist Centers open this space to the "pet friendly" culture with the objectives of "normalizing healthy coexistence" and "social encounter".
To "bring the island closer to a European model" in which it is becoming common to find enclosures in which animals are given "the importance they deserve through adequate and respectful treatment", they acknowledge.
According to specialized publications, "pet friendly" spaces help to "reduce daily stress" and to "develop feelings" such as "responsibility, respect and assertiveness in the human being", they emphasize.
