Ecologistas en Acción Lanzarote call for an end to the Isla de Los Volcanes Rally: "The island is not a circuit"

According to the group on social media, the cars in this event "trample the territory, stir up dust in protected areas and scare away wildlife" on the island.

Ecologistas en Acción Lanzarote has once again denounced the celebration of the XXVII Rallye de Tierra Virgen de los Volcanes-Trofeo Ciudad de Arrecife 2025, which will take place on August 7, 8 and 9.

According to the group on social media, "they trample the territory, stir up dust in protected areas and scare away wildlife" on the island. It should be remembered that Lanzarote has been a Biosphere Reserve since 1993 and includes a great deal of very sensitive biodiversity that must be protected.

In this sense, Ecologistas en Acción Lanzarote has published a video on Instagram in which they describe the celebration of this motor race as "barbarity, nonsense and destruction" and in which they also ask for this event to stop being held.

"Is this really compatible with the Biosphere Reserve? How long are we going to allow them to destroy what we say we love?" they ask. "There are other ways to enjoy Lanzarote without noise, without impact and without devastation. The island is not a circuit, the island is life and it is defended," they conclude.
