The Electoral Board has given the green light to the request made by Correos this Thursday to extend the deadline for postal voting for the general elections next Sunday, July 23. Although this Thursday was the last day, the deadline remains open until Friday at 2:00 p.m., the deadline in which the citizens of Lanzarote will be able to deposit their ballot.
A request approved due to the number of people who still had to vote first thing this Thursday, with 230,000 people still not having deposited their choice, according to data provided by the unions.
In addition, Correos has detailed that there are still some 170,000 electoral ballots pending to be collected by voters in their corresponding offices. Despite this, 91% of the more than 2.6 million citizens, who requested the vote by mail (a historical record), have already voted, so the CCOO and UGT unions celebrate the figures. Now only the remaining 9% need to come and exercise their right to vote.
It should also be remembered that this Thursday the Arrecife office will be open until ten o'clock at night, as Correos announced its extended hours last Wednesday.
