Destiladera: Lanzarote Revealed, the project of recovery of amateur and domestic films and videos developed by Tenique Cultural since 2018, will be part of the exhibition [Rec]uerdos. Life through domestic cinema, an unprecedented exhibition of the ”la Caixa” Foundation that was inaugurated this Thursday, February 27 at CaixaForum Zaragoza, and which will have its next stop in the city of València in the month of July.

The exhibition, curated by researchers Efrén Cuevas and Núria F. Rius, arises from the research project Domestic cinema in Spain: preservation, dissemination and appropriation, led by the University of Navarra and has the collaboration of other important institutions and audiovisual archives, such as Memorias Celuloides, the Spanish Film Library, the Photographic Library of the Diputación de Huesca, the Filmoteca de Catalunya, the Valencian Film Library, the City Council of Girona and the Filmoteca de Castilla y León.

As part of this initiative, Destiladera: Lanzarote Revealed has collaborated in the transfer of original film material from the island obtained from the compilation and digitization of private archives during the last years, allowing visitors to appreciate what life was like in Lanzarote in the last decades.

Javier Fuentes Feo, president of Tenique Cultural, highlighted the importance of this participation: "Being able to be part of such an important exhibition as this is a recognition of the work we have been developing in Lanzarote for years. Domestic cinema allows us to reconstruct a unique visual memory, where the history of the island is not told through great events, but through everyday gestures, family glances and landscapes transformed over time. We are excited that these fragments of life can now travel to other cities and connect with new audiences with the help of such a prestigious institution as the Fundación la Caixa."

For six years, the Destiladera project, promoted by Tenique Cultural and dedicated to the recovery and valorization of domestic cinema in Lanzarote, has achieved important national recognition. As a sign of its impact, last year its president, Javier Fuentes Feo, participated in the congress Domestic cinema in Spain: contexts, practices and archive, thus consolidating its role in the recovery and dissemination of domestic cinema in Spain.

Through these collaborations, Destiladera "reaffirms its commitment to the preservation of domestic cinema and its importance as Canarian audiovisual heritage. The inclusion of material from Lanzarote in the exhibition not only highlights the history of the island, but also allows new generations to discover and connect with their past through familiar and everyday images."

Destiladera. Lanzarote Revealed is a project of Tenique Cultural that has the support of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the City Councils of Arrecife, Haría, San Bartolomé, Teguise, Tías, Tinajo and Yaiza.
