Gran Canaria Airport activated a special operation this Monday night after receiving a bomb threat on Vueling flight VY3008, which covered the route between Barcelona and Gran Canaria.

As La Voz has learned, the aircraft landed without incident and the passengers were disembarked, having been transferred to an isolated room. The inspection of the plane and luggage was then pending.

The alert also had repercussions on airport operations and affected passengers on other flights. Among them, those on a Binter plane bound for Lanzarote, who had already boarded and were in the takeoff queue when the pilot informed them over the PA system that they could not take off due to a bomb threat at the airport.

According to the testimony of one of the travelers to La Voz de Lanzarote, the passengers remained inside the plane awaiting news on how the situation was developing. During that interval, several planes that were scheduled to land in Gran Canaria were circling in the air awaiting clearance to land.

Finally, the Binter flight bound for Lanzarote was able to take off about 20 minutes after the pilot informed the passengers of the incident, according to the account of one of the passengers to La Voz.

For the moment, the Government Delegation has confirmed that the inspection of the Vueling aircraft and its luggage was pending, with no further details emerging about the results of the checks.
