A young man managed to reverse the cardiorespiratory arrest his father suffered a few days ago while he was at his home in Costa Teguise. The incident occurred around seven in the morning, after the affected person suffered a seizure and, subsequently, an alteration in his respiratory pattern that led to cardiorespiratory arrest.

After checking that the affected person had no pulse, his family immediately contacted the Canary Emergency Service (SUC), dependent on the Ministry of Health of the Government of the Canary Islands. Simultaneously with the activation of the ambulance, the SUC coordinating nurse provided the family with telephone instructions to initiate resuscitation maneuvers.

The health coordinator instructed the son to place his father on a rigid surface and begin performing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers. During the phone conversation, upon hearing that there were other people in the room, he recommended that every two or three minutes they should alternate rescuers to maintain the quality of chest compressions.

When the medical team from the SUC's medicalized ambulance arrived at the home, they assessed the affected person and continued with cardiopulmonary resuscitation using a semi-automatic defibrillator. Two shocks were administered, after which the arrest was successfully reversed. Once stabilized, the patient was transferred to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital where he was admitted stable within a serious clinical picture.

The rapid action of the family, who alerted the emergency services and initiated resuscitation maneuvers following the SUC's instructions, was fundamental in maintaining circulation until the arrival of the medical teams. The early intervention contributed to saving the affected person's life.
