A worker has been left unconscious after falling inside a cistern while working on the construction of a hotel in Costa Teguise, in the town of Teguise. According to the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the alert was received around 9:30 a.m. this Thursday.
The aforementioned incident occurred at the construction site of the hotel being built on the last plot of land at the entrance to Los Ancones.
The manager of the Security and Emergencies Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, narrated that the cistern into which he fell was about eight meters high, that the worker fell inside it, and that firefighters had to break bars to rescue him.
The man remained unconscious after the fall. However, a paramedic from the Canary Islands Emergency Services was able to check his vital signs. After being immobilized on a spinal board, the worker was transferred to the ambulance, where he was attended by a doctor
The worker had to be transferred with serious injuries to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital.
Local Police officers from Teguise and the Civil Guard have been dispatched to the scene, as have two SUC ambulances, one with basic life support and another with advanced medical care.
