A woman has been arrested in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria accused of allegedly killing her one-and-a-half-year-old baby, whom she could have drowned in the sea in the fishing neighborhood of San Cristóbal, sources of the investigation reported this Thursday.
The arrest occurred around 10:00 PM this Tuesday, after residents of the area alerted that a woman was wandering with a wet baby in her arms and with symptoms of drowning.
When National Police officers arrived at the scene, they tried to revive the girl and notified emergency medical services.
The minor was transferred to the Insular Maternal and Child Hospital of the Gran Canarian capital, where she died.
The Court of Violence against Children and Adolescents in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria has taken charge of the case, which investigates the circumstances of what happened, and has declared the summary proceedings confidential.
