Sailboat stranded in La Graciosa

A sailboat ran aground around 00:00 hours this Monday in La Graciosa, near the town of Pedro Barba, as reported by Emergencias y Rescate de Lanzarote (Emerlan).

On the boat, which is 8.30 meters long and flies the French flag, was a single crew member, 57 years old and of Czech nationality, who was unharmed. According to the crew member, he ran aground due to "a lapse" and abandoned the boat, but, not knowing the island, he was unable to connect with 1-1-2 at the time.

In addition, the boat is carrying approximately 40 liters of gasoline, although there are no signs of spills or fuel leaks at the site, and the hull appears to be intact.

In this regard, the occupant has reported that there are only two 10-liter diesel cans on board, each of which is sealed. Local Police officers, Maritime Rescue and Emerlan volunteers have attended the scene.
