One of Europe's most wanted fugitives arrested in Lanzarote

National Police agents in Arrecife have arrested in the municipality of Tías, in Lanzarote, a 33-year-old woman, of Spanish father and Swedish mother, against whom a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) issued by the Swedish authorities for crimes of drug trafficking and money laundering and a maximum penalty of 14 years in prison.

The police investigation began on February 7 of this year, after the police officers received new information from the Fugitive Group of the General Police Station of the Judicial Police.

The detainee is an international fugitive who appears on the EUROPOL most wanted lists, and had been missing since the end of 2021.

The agents in charge of the investigation set up a police device that managed to locate, identify and arrest the fugitive on February 20 in the municipal district of Tías on the island of Lanzarote, where she was hiding.

Once the police proceedings were completed, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority, who ordered her imprisonment until the necessary procedures are completed to proceed with her extradition to the requesting authorities.
