The National Police arrested a man for reckless driving, damage and against road safety for driving without a driver's license, after a chase this morning through several areas of the capital of Gran Canaria.
The chase began at about 1 after a call from a witness who alerted the authorities that the vehicle was reported stolen. National Police units located the vehicle and the driver on Luis Doreste Silva Street and at the moment of giving them the police stop to carry out the pertinent checks, he fled.
Later the chase runs through the areas of Tomás Morales, Pedro Infinito, Hoya Andrea, Tamaraceite, ending the chase in the area of the Tenoya ravine with Casa Ayala where agents of the National Police manage to intercept him and proceed with the arrest of the driver.
During the chase, the arrested man was making high-speed maneuvers, putting other drivers and pedestrians at serious risk, several times driving in the opposite direction in some sections of the chase in which local police units also collaborated.
Two police vehicles were damaged when they were rammed by the detainee when they tried to block him in several areas during the chase, as well as 5 private vehicles.
