Two people, a 50-year-old man and another 21-year-old man, have been injured in a traffic accident when a vehicle overturned in Playa Blanca, Yaiza. According to the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium, the vehicle flipped over in the roundabout on Avenida de Femés. The incident took place around 3:20 PM this past Wednesday.
The Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 received several calls reporting a vehicle rollover. After receiving these alerts, it activated the firefighters of the Lanzarote Security, Emergency, Rescue, Prevention, and Fire Extinguishing Consortium, the Canary Emergency Medical Service (SUC), and the Local Police of Yaiza.
The 50-year-old man presented with moderate polytrauma at the initial stage of assistance, barring complications, and was transferred by an SUC basic life support ambulance to the Playa Blanca Local Health Center. Meanwhile, the 21-year-old man presented with mild neck pain, barring complications, and was transferred by an SUC basic life support ambulance to the Playa Blanca Local Health Center.
According to the Emergency Consortium, once the firefighters arrived at the accident, they confirmed that the vehicle in which the two occupants were traveling had gone off the road after violently impacting a fence.
One of the occupants, the passenger, was experiencing dizziness and pain in his right arm and head. Once the medical services arrived, they transferred the affected individuals to the health center for evaluation.
Finally, they disconnected the vehicle's battery as a precaution and marked the area with barrier tape, concluding the service.
