Two dead and three rescued on Las Conchas beach in La Graciosa

Two people have died drowned on Las Conchas beach, in La Graciosa, and three others have been rescued alive. The deceased, of foreign origin, are the father of a family and one of their daughters, eight years old, as reported to La Voz from Emerlan. They had all gone into the water for a swim and were dragged by the current.

The GES helicopter, Emerlan and Local Police went to Las Conchas beach, after receiving an alert in which it was reported that there were "several people in distress" in the water. When they arrived in the area, the emergency teams were only able to rescue three people alive.

Specifically, the GES helicopter pulled the lifeless body of the father of a family from the water, while a Líneas Romero boat rescued the body of a girl and arrived in time to save another girl, 14 years old, and a boy, 16 years old. Another adult was able to get out of the water with the help of several Emerlan personnel who traveled to this beach in an ambulance.

This beach of Las Conchas is quite far away, and also, the emergency teams have had many difficulties to act, since this Thursday the Aemet had decreed the warning for adverse coastal phenomena.

As confirmed by 112, the bodies of these two people will be transferred by the GES helicopter to the Civil Guard barracks in Costa Teguise.
