The Civil Guard of Lanzarote and the Local Police of Tías arrested two people for crimes of robbery with violence, theft, damage, usurpation of property and threats to an authority agent, in the early morning of March 10 in the town of Puerto del Carmen, in the municipality of Tías.
A Civil Guard agent, off duty, witnessed the first crime in the vicinity. After verifying the victim's condition, he tried to chase the two perpetrators. Although he failed to reach them due to the advantage they had taken, his intervention provided a detailed description of the suspects, facilitating their subsequent identification. Later, when a second robbery with violence occurred, the officers of the Tías Civil Guard Station quickly corroborated, through the proceedings carried out, that they were the same perpetrators of the previous crime.
After the Civil Guard cordoned off the search perimeter for their location, the two individuals forcibly entered a vacant vacation home in the area, remaining there for the rest of the night. To do this, they disabled all the security measures available to the house to prevent the alarm installed in the property from being activated.
However, after checking the occupied house, its owner simultaneously alerted the Civil Guard and the Local Police of Tías. As a result of police collaboration, the two wanted people were located inside the property, proceeding to their immediate arrest. The arrest was carried out with difficulty due to the great resistance and violence shown by the two individuals.
After the arrest, new evidence was obtained that opens lines of investigation as they are related to other crimes that were unresolved and in which the detainees could have direct involvement. With their arrest, three mobile phones, several bags and 430 euros that had been stolen that same night were recovered.
This joint action demonstrates the collaboration and continuous commitment of the Security Forces and Corps deployed in the municipality of Tías, for whom the fundamental objective is to guarantee the safety and well-being of residents and their visitors.
The detainees, along with the instructed proceedings, were brought before the Arrecife Duty Court, ordering the immediate imprisonment of one of them and the supervised release of the second, after the clarification of the facts committed.
