An Irish woman was arrested at Dublin Airport for allegedly carrying 30,000 euros worth of hashish (cannabis resin) upon arrival in the capital of Ireland. According to the local media Westmeather Examiner, the events took place on July 19 and the detainee C.D., 53 years old, had departed from the island of Lanzarote after "enjoying a birthday party".
The woman told the court that she frequently travels between Lanzarote and Dublin, according to information published by this media outlet.
Regarding the day of the arrest, C.D. was caught at 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 19, in Terminal One of the aforementioned aerodrome. Apparently, the narcotic substances she allegedly carried were hidden in vacuum-sealed packages.
According to the aforementioned information, she was carrying five kilograms of the aforementioned drug, which she allegedly intended to "sell or supply" in her country. Thus, she was arrested on charges of improper use of these narcotic substances and had to appear before the Dublin District Court.
This local media has added that the detainee, a mother of two and resident in the Midlands, did not want to testify before the police. However, her defense requested the Court investigating the case to release her on bail, arguing that she lived in the area, with a stable partner and the rest of her family.
In addition, she argued that she had health problems and was taking medication for anxiety.
Initially, the Court ordered provisional imprisonment for the woman and withdrew her passport until contact could be made with her partner. In addition, it set her bail at 500 euros, with another independent bail of 2,000, to allow her release from prison. Furthermore, it dictated the obligation to appear at her local police office three days a week, not to create a new passport, to provide a telephone number, and to be available 24 hours a day.
