Samuel, a resident of the Valterra neighborhood, woke up last Monday with a rather unpleasant surprise. And it is that, when leaving his house to go to work, he found that his motorcycle had been stolen. Finally, a day later and thanks to citizen collaboration, he managed to locate the alleged thief and detain him until the arrival of the Police.
"On Sunday night, I knew the motorcycle was there because I had seen it around eleven at night and not only me, but my roommates, because they had arrived from work. And on Monday, when I get up in the morning and go to work, with my helmet on, when I go out the door I find that the motorcycle is not there," says its owner.
At first, Samuel began to doubt thinking "if he had left the motorcycle parked somewhere else" and took his car and started "driving around the street" until he finally verified that no, the motorcycle was not there. "And as soon as I realized it, I went to the National Police and reported it," he points out.
After that, he also decided to make an appeal through social networks, requesting help to find it. Thus, he states that he began to receive calls from people who told him that they had seen "two boys" with the motorcycle. "What surprises me is that the Police did not see it at any time," he points out.
However, thanks to citizen collaboration, Samuel reached a boy, who was the one he believed could have stolen it. "He didn't have it, but he led us to the boy who did have it. We found him, we pressured him and he finally told us where the motorcycle was," he points out.
"I myself handed him over to the Police"
"He apologized, he knew he had made a mistake, but it was quite serious and I myself handed him over to the Police," says the owner of the motorcycle, who tells how he managed to detain the alleged thief. "I told him that nothing was wrong, but that I wanted him to tell me where his mother's house was, because we didn't know if he was a minor, to go. What I was interested in was recovering the motorcycle and thanks to that the boy was calm and didn't think we had called the Police."
Thus, the alleged thief, who he points out was finally 18 years old, was arrested. As for the motorcycle, it was found "a few meters" from where they located the young man, specifically behind the gas station on the Arrecife ring road, at the height of San Francisco Javier. "It was in an abandoned house, where there was a homeless person who was keeping it," explains Samuel,
However, after recovering the motorcycle, it did not "start" and "at first glance it had damage that seemed serious." Thus, its owner took it to a workshop, which has finally valued the repair at 1,593 euros. "The repair is worth almost more than what I paid for the motorcycle", says Samuel, who states that the case is already in the Courts.
