The 27-year-old who died this Saturday in Famara is the well-known Tenerife 'buguero' Santiago Cruz Luis, who was practicing bodyboarding and not windsurfing as initially reported. A sport that he was passionate about and that had made him one of the best in the Canary Islands in this modality. The athlete hit his head against some submerged rocks. A recreational boat transferred him to the Caleta de Sebo dock, in La Graciosa, but nothing could be done to recover his vital signs.

Cruz Luis has several podiums in different tests held in the waters of the Archipelago in his record. Although he was born in Icod de los Vinos in Tenerife, Santi lived in the town of La Santa in Tinajo where he was a very appreciated young man. His friends define him as a lover of the sea and water sports but above all as "good people".
