The Seprona of the Civil Guard of the Las Palmas Command has arrested for a presumed crime of animal abuse the man from whom the Local Police of San Bartolomé seized a nine-month-old dog this past Sunday, after he was recorded allegedly mistreating the animal.
The events occurred last Saturday, August 22, on a farm in the municipality, when two people were able to record how the man threw the animal against the bed of a truck and tied it with an extremely short chain while violently beating it, even on the head, while it cried.
The Association for the Defense and Against Animal Abuse of Lanzarote (ADEMAL) reported these events to the Seprona of the Civil Guard after being alerted by these two people.
In addition to the seizure of the animal, ADEMAL had requested an urgent inspection of the dog's owner and that "all responsibilities be clarified," considering that the events "could even constitute a crime."
The association recalls that hitting an animal is not "a way of educating it," but rather abuse.
