The policemen who entered the burning house found the mother hugging her children in a room

The fire that broke out on Thursday night in a house in Maneje could have had fatal consequences. The intervention of two National Police officers allowed the rescue of the 29-year-old woman and her two children, ages 6 and 7, who had been trapped in the house. "They were sheltered in the bedroom furthest from the access door to the house and the mother was holding her two children," the Police explain in a statement, with which they wanted to highlight the actions of these agents.

The event took place at around 9 p.m. on Los Geranios Avenue, located in the Maneje neighborhood. When the Police arrived at the scene, "they found numerous very nervous neighbors, pointing to the first floor of a house, from which a large amount of smoke emanated." The agents were warned that several people could be inside. "Screams for help were heard from the burning house," they relate.

Given the situation of imminent risk, two National Police agents, after knocking down the access door to the house, crawled inside, where after checking several rooms they found the woman and two children. "Each of the agents took a child in their arms and, helping the woman to move, they reached a safe place, where the family was attended to by the emergency services," the Police explain.

According to what the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security had reported, the woman had suffered minor burns and both she and the children were also treated for smoke inhalation. In addition, one of the agents also required attention for smoke inhalation, according to what the Police have now reported, who specify that the police intervention was carried out by officials assigned to the Operational Response Group of the Arrecife Police Station.
