The Playa Honda daycare center has suffered a robbery during this weekend. The center's staff realized on Monday morning that someone had forced an aluminum window, had done "some damage" and had taken material. Specifically, a television, a camera, daycare material and cash are missing, although "a small amount".
When the center's staff realized the robbery, they notified the Civil Guard, who is already investigating the events. Agents have gone to the daycare center to collect evidence and discover who is behind this event. Due to this investigation, normality did not return to the center until mid-morning.
For the moment, there are no detainees. The center does not have surveillance cameras either, so it is unknown how many people managed to enter and when. The daycare center is next to the Playa Honda Civic Center. Although it is a residential area, no neighbor heard anything. "They were stealthy, no one found out," said the Councilor for Security of the San Bartolomé City Council, Antonio Rocío.
Although the daycare center is municipal, its management was awarded to a private company, which will be in charge of re-acquiring the stolen material, unless the Civil Guard recovers it during its investigation. "It feels bad that these things happen, but there are robberies everywhere and we have to face them and prevent them," said Rocío, who believes that it is not easy to sneak inside the daycare center.
Robbery in September
Since last September, the municipality has been the victim of several robberies in educational centers. The Civil Guard arrested four people at the end of September related to the robbery with force in the Ajei school and daycare center, in San Bartolomé, which occurred before the school year began.
Specifically, they arrested three people between 22 and 28 years old as alleged perpetrators of a crime of robbery with force and a minor for being the alleged perpetrator of a crime of receiving stolen goods when acquiring the stolen objects. They had stolen from these educational centers a computer, two televisions, a mobile phone, two radio-CDs, as well as a large amount of school material such as pencils, erasers and markers.
