The National Police has intensified since last August 1st actions of prevention and surveillance against small-scale drug trafficking in different areas of Arrecife, following information received about the possible existence of various points of sale of narcotic substances.
The origin of these actions lies in the information transferred to the National Police by neighborhood associations, citizen groups, and individuals, both through contacts maintained with the Citizen Participation Unit and through communications and complaints received via the National Police website.
After analyzing the information received, agents established various police operations aimed at preventing and detecting activities related to drug trafficking and reinforcing security and coexistence in the affected areas.
As a result of the actions developed so far, the National Police has arrested three people and has seized a total of 215 doses of narcotic substances, in addition to more than 2,500 euros in cash allegedly related to this activity.
The operations have allowed action to be taken on three points where activity related to small-scale drug sales had been detected, located in the center of Arrecife and in the neighborhoods of Argana and Titerroy.
These actions, in addition to combating retail drug trafficking, aim to prevent other criminal acts associated with this activity and reduce the disturbances and coexistence problems that these types of points can cause to residents.
The National Police highlights the importance of citizen collaboration, as the information provided by residents and groups allows for the detection of situations affecting security and the direction of police resources towards those areas where a greater problem is observed.
The National Police will continue to carry out prevention and surveillance actions in those points where the information received or police activity itself advises reinforcing the presence of agents, with the aim of preventing drug trafficking and improving security and citizen coexistence in Arrecife.
