Two officers from the Tías Local Police intervened decisively on Tuesday afternoon to save the life of a citizen who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest in the Atlantis Las Lomas apartments, in Puerto del Carmen.
The alert was received through CECOES, which requested the presence of a police unit. The officers immediately went to the place, where they proceeded to place and activate the device with a Semi-Automatic External Defibrillator (AED), applying the initial resuscitation maneuvers until the arrival of the health services.
Thanks to this rapid and coordinated intervention, a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service subsequently took charge of the affected person, managing to stabilize him and proceeding to transfer him to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital, in Arrecife.
Subsequently, the 112 Emergency Coordination Center contacted the Headquarters to formally convey their gratitude and congratulate the professionalism of the acting agents, emphasizing that their intervention was key to saving the citizen's life. Similarly, the doctor involved at the scene also highlighted the effectiveness and speed of the police action.
The Tías City Council and the Local Police Headquarters express their "recognition to the agents involved, valuing the importance of training in first aid and the use of defibrillators, fundamental tools to respond effectively to vital emergencies".
