A 56-year-old paraglider had to be rescued by helicopter this Wednesday on the Tinasoria mountain, in Tías. The woman has suffered a less serious hip injury and, after the helicopter managed to get her out of the difficult access area where she had fallen, she has been transferred to the Molina Orosa hospital in Arrecife.
The Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies received the alert at noon that a paraglider needed assistance on this mountain. Firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium had already arrived there, as well as an ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service.
According to what they explained from 112, the paraglider had been in a "complicated" area, halfway up the hillside. For this reason, it was decided that the best option to help her "moving her as little as possible" was for the helicopter to take her out.
The aircraft has transferred her to the Guacimeta airport, where she has received medical assistance. After that first assessment in which she was diagnosed with a less severe hip injury, the woman has been transferred to the hospital by ambulance. Civil Protection and Local Police of Tías have also come to the scene.
