The Civil Guard of Lanzarote and the Special Group of Underwater Activities (GEAS) of the Benemérita are sweeping the eastern coast of Lanzarote in search of bone remains. This has been confirmed by La Voz.
This Wednesday morning, GEAS of the Civil Guard combed the coast of Charco del Palo, in the municipality of Haría. Meanwhile, a group of the Benemérita watched the island's coastline from the helicopter.
This operation, as confirmed by sources from the Civil Guard to La Voz, is related to the discovery of parts of a human corpse on March 18 in a coastal cave in Charco del Palo. Specifically, cleaning service workers found bones that appeared to belong to parts of the human body, from the knee to the spine, on that Tuesday morning.
After the discovery, the Judicial Police arrived at the scene to collaborate in the collection of the remains, which were later transferred by a funeral home to be analyzed. So far, the identity of the corpse or the sex has not been revealed. However, according to the police force at the time, the remains found did not show signs of violence, although the corpse was not found in its entirety.
