Sports equipment stolen from the Playa Honda school and returned shortly after

Four baskets and three small soccer goals disappeared over the weekend from the multi-sport school that is held at the center as an extracurricular activity, although most have already been recovered.

This is how part of the stolen material has been returned

The Playa Honda school was the victim of a robbery over the weekend, in which sports equipment was stolen from the multi-sport school that the Grubati Basketball Club runs as an extracurricular activity at the educational center.

It was on Monday morning when the club realized that four baskets and three small soccer goals had disappeared. "They didn't destroy anything or anything, but they took the material," they told La Voz from the club, from where they stated that they reported the events to the Civil Guard.

"The goals are those little ones that can still be used on the beach, but the baskets, without the base, are useless. Furthermore, they are tiny hoops, like the ones in Decathlon for children to shoot with foam balls," they detailed.

According to what they explained, the material was in a space in the courtyard that is delimited with high fences and padlocks, but that is open at the top, so that "if they climb the wall, they can jump inside", which is what they believe happened.

In addition to reporting the robbery, the club spread the word through social networks, for which they had the help of the Playa Honda Neighborhood Association, and after that they have managed to recover a large part of the material. "That same night they threw part of the material over the walls and today another part has appeared, which they have left in garbage bags inside the school", they pointed out from the club, from where they state that they only have one of the goals left to recover. Another one of them appeared thrown on the roof of the Playa Honda municipal library, which is located in the vicinity of the school.

According to what they have been able to learn from neighbors, "on Sunday night they saw some boys playing soccer in the square with two goals", so the club believes that it may have been "a prank". "I live next door and on Sunday I saw two boys with a bicycle and a soccer goal in their hand," said a woman, whose son attends the Grubati Basketball Club's multi-sport school. However, she points out that she did not know about the robbery until Monday and that, therefore, when she saw the young men, who she estimates were "about 12 or 13 years old", she did not think it was the school's material.
