Several ships of the old Agramar cannery have been incinerated by the fire that broke out on Thursday night. The fire started at about 10:30 p.m. and quickly consumed five ships and three warehouses that have been completely incinerated. Fortunately, there have been no human damages, since there have been no injuries.
The firefighters have been acting all night and it has been extinguished at 6:00 am this Friday. As the manager of the Emergency Consortium, Enrique Espinosa, explained to Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, "we had to use about 52,000 liters of water, 12 troops and five trucks were moved, the fire was very intense aggravated because the walls of the ships were covered with cork and spread quickly to the roofs." "For this reason, and for fear of collapse, we attacked the flames from the outside until we could enter," added Espinosa. The area has been agreed for security.
