National Police agents belonging to the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the Superior Headquarters of Canarias, have clarified a kidnapping offense committed in March 2025 in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, culminating the investigation with the arrest of seven people as alleged perpetrators of the events.
The investigation, named Operation Kripto, began as a result of the kidnapping committed between 9:00 PM and 9:30 PM on March 17, 2025, when a group of individuals, posing as police officers and using a van-type vehicle, intercepted the victim in the private parking lot of her home.
After subduing her by force, the alleged perpetrators put her in the vehicle and took her to an industrial warehouse, where she remained held for several hours.
The investigated individuals used threats and assaults to force the victim to make a cryptocurrency transfer for a large amount. In addition, they stole cash and various valuable objects from her.
After several hours, the perpetrators abandoned the victim, not without first uttering new threats and warning her of the possible consequences she could suffer if she reported what happened to the authorities.
The investigations carried out by the agents allowed the identification and location of the alleged perpetrators of the events, culminating in the arrest of seven people.
Once the police proceedings were completed, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, who ordered two of them to be imprisoned.
