Security cameras captured three thieves during the robbery at Santos Jewelry

At least three people stole about 3.5 million euros in jewelry from the Santos Jewelry store in Puerto del Carmen in the early hours of Sunday, according to images captured by the establishment's security cameras. The investigation is still open by the Civil Guard without any arrests so far, although this Monday a specialized unit of the Benemérita is scheduled to move from Gran Canaria. In addition, while the investigations are carried out, the business has not opened its doors this Monday.

It was shortly after 3 a.m. when the jewelry store alarm went off, prompting its owner to travel to the establishment, finding upon arrival that the Civil Guard and the Local Police had already arrived at the scene. "In their presence I opened the store, we entered and saw that there were tools and many things thrown on the floor and destruction," the owner told La Voz.

According to the same, the thieves accessed the jewelry store "through the terrace, bending two metal security doors and destroying the four locks that were there." From there they managed to access the bathroom and, through a false ceiling, in which they made "several holes", enter the establishment. "The curious thing is that they did it right above where the most valuable jewels were located," highlighted the owner of the jewelry store, who considers it "probable" that the thieves knew the premises.

The assailants "emptied the entire section and took numerous jewels, including high-value watches." Thus, the owner points out that "the destruction of the establishment is relative, because "the greatest damage is the merchandise they took."

A robbery "with the same system" six months ago

In addition, the owner of the Santos Jewelry store states that "six months ago" he suffered another robbery in another establishment "with the same system." "The way of stealing was the same. At that time they entered through the wall with their heads covered with a hat in which they carried a strong light to illuminate, as if they were mine workers", he detailed.

In the jewelry store he has on Avenida Marítima in Playa Blanca, they also stole a watch valued at 9,600 euros in October, although on that occasion the thief entered the establishment while it was open and with his face uncovered.
