A Canaryfly airline plane suffered a go-around on Sunday night in Lanzarote. The pilot had to perform the maneuver known as TOGA, an acronym for the English term (touch and go-around), which defines the moment when the aircraft touches the ground and returns to the air.
This episode occurred on a flight from Gran Canaria to Lanzarote Airport. The go-around took place around 8:10 PM on Sunday, August 2nd. This maneuver, which is common in certain circumstances, occurs when a safe landing cannot be guaranteed and the pilot decides to return to the air.
The flight finally landed twelve minutes late at Lanzarote Airport.
That same Sunday, Lanzarote Airport registered maximum wind gusts of up to 75 kilometers per hour at 7:00 PM and over 65 kilometers per hour at 8:00 PM. Meanwhile, the average wind speed was close to 50 kilometers per hour.
The island was then on a pre-alert status for wind, declared by the Directorate General of Emergencies of the Government of the Canary Islands.
