Paraglider rescued after suffering an accident near Playa Quemada

A paraglider was in a difficult-to-access area, and firefighters and the GES helicopter had to intervene.

A 61-year-old paraglider was injured this Thursday after falling near Playa Quemada, in the municipality of Yaiza. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Playa de la Arena, in a difficult-to-access area.

Firefighters from the Emergency Consortium had to travel to the scene to carry out the rescue, in which the GES helicopter also had to intervene. Among the members of both units, they were in charge of immobilizing him and taking him on a stretcher to the helicopter, and then evacuating him to the place where the ambulance and medical personnel were waiting, for his subsequent transfer to the Molina Orosa hospital.

According to the Coordinating Center for Emergencies and Security, the man had moderate back trauma.

Agents of the Local Police and civil protection personnel also went to the area, who collaborated with health and emergency resources.
