The Canary Islands Police have already arrested 30 people in the so-called 'Currican' operation, which investigates the alleged dissemination of sexually explicit images among minors, with searches that have extended to nine municipalities in Gran Canaria and have also reached El Hierro.

As detailed this Tuesday by the regional Ministry of the Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice and Security in a statement, the Canary Islands Police began a operation this Monday under the coordination of the Instruction Section of the Court of Instance of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, court number three, and the investigation remains open, so new arrests are not ruled out.

The searches in homes have been carried out in the Gran Canarian municipalities of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria -14-, Arucas -four-, Santa Lucía de Tirajana -three-, Santa Brígida and Telde -two in each-, and Teror, Ingenio, Mogán and San Bartolomé de Tirajana -one in each-, as well as one more on the island of El Hierro.

The crimes being investigated by the previously known Court for Violence Against Children and Adolescents, headed by magistrate Tomás Martín, are against the sexual freedom of minors under 16 years of age, child corruption, and against public health, and the proceedings remain secret.

More than 130 officers from the Autonomous Police from different operational units have participated in this police operation, including the Subgroup for Violence Against Children and Adolescents, the Citizen Security Unit, the Police Intervention Unit, the Surveillance and Inspection Unit, the Minors Group, the Judicial Assistance Subgroup, and the Canine Guides Group.

Furthermore, given its complexity, it has been necessary to mobilize agents from the island police station of Tenerife to provide support to those deployed in Gran Canaria, the Ministry specified in the note.
