A man died and five other people were injured after the car they were traveling in, an Opel Astra, crashed into a palm tree at the entrance to Marina Rubicón in Playa Blanca.
The accident occurred at approximately 03:19 this Wednesday, the time at which CECOES was alerted to the accident in which there were several injured. Four ambulances from the Canary Emergency Service, a doctor and nurse from the Playa Blanca health center, the Emergency Consortium, Local Police and Civil Guard were dispatched to the scene.
Upon arrival, the SUC health personnel, together with the medical team from the health center in the area, confirmed that one of those affected had died, and assisted five other people, three of them with moderate injuries. The deceased is a 35-year-old man and apparently was the driver. The firefighters waited for the judicial authority to arrive to proceed with the removal of the body.
As for the injured, there is a 23-year-old woman who presented with severe head trauma, a 26-year-old woman with severe polytrauma, a 19-year-old woman who suffered a fracture of the elbow and ankle of a serious nature, a 25-year-old man with moderate multiple contusions and a 20-year-old man with moderate multiple contusions.
The injured in the accident were transferred by ambulance to Molina Orosa.
As a result of the impact, two of the occupants of the vehicle were trapped inside, so they were released by the firefighters of the Consortium.
The firefighters collaborated in the removal of the vehicle and cleaning of the road, while the police officers took charge of the corresponding procedures.
