Fight at a football match in Lanzarote

Lanzarote football has once again been the scene of a regrettable episode of violence. This Sunday, during an inter-island youth match between Marítima and Victoria, played at the Puerto del Arrecife Municipal Field, a generalized brawl broke out that forced the match to be suspended. According to witnesses, the incident began after the visiting team's equalizing goal in the 79th minute, when an argument between fans of both teams in the stands quickly escalated.

The referee stopped the match due to the increasing tension, but the situation worsened when several players from both teams went to the stands, which led to a fight between players and fans on the field. According to the report drawn up by the refereeing management, "The number 15 of the visiting team addresses an opponent with the following terms: fucking black piece of shit."

This incident occurs just over a week after another football match in Lanzarote ended in violence. Last Friday, February 14, a match between Club de Fútbol Puerto del Carmen (PDC) and Unión Deportiva Valterra, corresponding to the First Regional of Lanzarote, ended in blows at the Manuel Arrocha García municipal field in Puerto del Carmen. According to images and testimonies collected by La Voz, a conflict between both squads ended with several players facing each other and even with aggressions between members of the fans and the players of one of the teams.
