Local Police officers have arrested the driver of a motorcycle for an alleged crime of document forgery due to the improper use of the license plate, as reported by the police force.
The events took place on April 18, 2024, around 5:00 p.m., while GOAC agents were patrolling the Medular Road. During their route, they observed a moped with a motorcycle-format license plate, which raised suspicions. After verifying the information in the relevant databases, the agents discovered that the vehicle lacked both the Technical Vehicle Inspection (ITV) and the mandatory insurance (SOA).
Given this situation, they proceeded to stop the 52-year-old driver to carry out the corresponding investigations. During the vehicle inspection process, mechanical elements were found that did not correspond to the type of moped, and the chassis number was in a deteriorated state that made it difficult to read.
After consulting the vehicle's license plate database, it was confirmed that it was registered in the driver's name but corresponded to another vehicle (a motorcycle with a larger engine) that he had previously owned.
Given these findings, the Local Police officers arrested the driver for alleged document forgery on the license plate. The vehicle was taken to the municipal depot, and the owner was sanctioned for the administrative infractions of the ITV and mandatory insurance.
The Local Police reiterate "their commitment to road safety and will continue working actively to ensure compliance with established regulations and the protection of all citizens."
