The National Police has arrested the mother of a two-year-old girl for abandoning her for more than an hour at her home in Lanzarote. The arrest took place on February 11 in Arrecife and the woman was apprehended as the perpetrator of a crime of child abandonment.
The events occurred around 8:30 AM on a street in the capital of Lanzarote, when a citizen driving his vehicle observed a girl of approximately two years old, crossing the public road alone and in diapers.
Upon realizing the situation, the citizen turned around and located the minor again, who was crying and disoriented, immediately alerting the National Police.
The agents carried out the appropriate procedures, managing to identify and locate the minor's mother, verifying that she had been absent from the home for more than an hour, during which time the girl left the home, leaving her exposed to grave danger to her integrity.
The Unit for Attention to Family and Women (UFAM) of the National Police took charge of the investigation, proceeding to the arrest of the mother as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of child abandonment.
Once the police proceedings were concluded, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
