Man seriously injured by smoke inhalation in a fire in Lanzarote

The fire broke out in a third-floor apartment in Arrecife and the affected person was assisted and stabilized by medical personnel

A 44-year-old man has been evacuated for smoke inhalation following a fire in an apartment building in Arrecife, according to the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center.

The fire took place this Friday around 6:49 PM on Calle Pedro Barba in the capital of Lanzarote. After being alerted, the CECOES dispatched the Emergency Consortium, Local Police, two ambulances, one medicalized and another with basic life support, from the Canary Islands Emergency Service and Civil Protection to the scene.

Once at the scene, firefighters proceeded to extinguish the flames and ventilate the property. Healthcare personnel attended to the affected individual, who presented with **severe intoxication** from smoke inhalation and, after stabilizing him, was transferred by a medicalized ambulance to Molina Orosa

The Local Police have secured the area and carried out the corresponding proceedings, and Civil Protection has collaborated with the intervening resources.
