A resident of Teguise is admitted with severe burns at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville after a griddle exploded on him in a restaurant in the municipality, as La Voz has been able to ascertain.

The events occurred on September 27 when the man was eating at this restaurant and the so-called hot stones (small griddles placed on tables for the customer to finish cooking the meat to their liking) exploded and caused him severe burns to his torso and face.

At the scene there were four nurses who provided him with first aid until the Canary Islands Emergency Service ambulance arrived, as well as the Local Police.

After being initially transferred to the José Molina Orosa Hospital, doctors decided to transfer him to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville due to the severity of the burns. This Andalusian hospital center has the Plastic Surgery and Major Burns Unit, a benchmark of maximum specialization in Spain.

Now, this resident of Teguise is sedated and is undergoing different surgical interventions for skin grafts, although he is gradually improving favorably, as this media outlet has learned.

For their part, the competent authorities carried out an inspection at the restaurant on a previous occasion for other reasons. According to what La Voz has been able to ascertain, Local Police agents carried out another inspection to determine the causes of the explosion, although "another area" will be in charge of continuing the investigation.
