Firefighters from the Consorcio de Seguridad y Emergencias of Lanzarote intervened on Wednesday afternoon to help two people who had become trapped inside an elevator in a building in Arrecife.

The incident took place around 6:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon on Azorin street, in the capital of Lanzarote.

The Lanzarote Emergency and Security Coordination Center (CECOES) informed the firefighters of the Consorcio de Seguridad y Emergencias that an incident had occurred in this building's elevator.

Once on site, they established communication with the people, confirmed they were well, and that the cabin was blocked between the second and third floors of the building.

The firefighters accessed the machine room located on the top floor, disconnected it from the power, and activated the manual movement of the cabin until it was positioned on the floor.

Afterwards, they opened the elevator doors and the people were able to exit in good condition without having suffered any harm. Once the work was completed, building residents were informed that the elevator would remain inoperative, without power, until it was inspected by the corresponding technical service.

After verifying that all doors were closed on the different floors, the service was concluded, informing the fire department central and CECOES. Local Police of Arrecife collaborated in this incident.
