Firefighters of the Lanzarote Security and Emergencies Consortium had to unearth a vehicle that had gotten trapped in the sand of Los Pocillos beach, in Puerto del Carmen. According to what the Consortium's manager, Enrique Espinosa, informed La Voz, the vehicle would have ended up on the beach shore due to the carelessness of its driver.
Despite the access to the beach by car is prohibited, a couple of tourists from Madrid entered the area with a rental car. The Civil Guard fined them.
Alerted by the Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES), the firefighters immediately moved to the scene and upon arrival confirmed that the vehicle was partially buried in the front part, a few meters from the water and with the tide rising.
Given that they had little time to act, they used specialized tools and wedges to be able to remove the car. Once freed, they have moved the vehicle to a safe area to avoid additional risks. Finally, they collected all the pertinent data.
At the scene was also Tías Local Police, who collaborated during the operation.
