The Civil Guard of Lanzarote arrested on October 16 a 65-year-old person, with no police record, for the alleged authorship of a theft inside a house in the town of Guatiza, for allegedly stealing several gold rings with diamonds and gold necklaces valued at more than 5,000 euros.

The Benemérita became aware of these events on October 14 as a result of a complaint filed at the facilities of the Main Post of Costa Teguise, in which it was stated that "unknown perpetrators" had stolen jewelry from inside a house located in the town of Guatiza, inhabited by two elderly people. These jewels consisted of several gold rings with diamonds and gold necklaces valued at more than 5,000 euros, not being able to specify the exact valuation of these since they were acquired some time ago.

The Civil Guard of Costa Teguise carried out the appropriate investigation procedures to clarify the criminal acts, being able to gather all the police inquiries to identify the perpetrators of the criminal act. After conducting an ocular inspection at the scene, it was verified that there were no signs of forced entry to the house, the Civil Guard suspecting that the possible perpetrator was a person close to the victim, their suspicions falling on the housekeeper.

These indications were substantiated when it was verified that the thefts of the aforementioned jewels had occurred during the period of employment of the housekeeper, with the circumstance that she had sold them and these were recognized by the complainant without any doubt as her property.

Therefore, this person was arrested for her alleged participation in a less serious crime of theft, with the Civil Guard continuing the investigation in order to recover the stolen jewelry and sending the appropriate proceedings to the Investigating Court on duty in Arrecife.
