A hiker of about 60 years of age has died after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest in Femés, according to the Emergency and Security Coordination Center.
The incident took place around 4:00 PM this Tuesday, September 8, on a trail near the town.
After being alerted, the CECOES, Local Police officers, Civil Guard, firefighters, the GES helicopter, and two ambulances, one medicalized and another with basic life support, from the Canary Emergency Service, were dispatched.
Upon arrival at the scene, the medical personnel confirmed that the affected person was in cardiorespiratory arrest and another person who was with her was performing resuscitation maneuvers, so the medical staff continued to perform basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers, in which Local Police and Firefighter personnel also collaborated.
For their part, the GES helicopter rescuers accessed the area, rescued the affected person with the collaboration of the rest of the deployed resources and, while continuing their attention, evacuated her in the aircraft to a nearby location where the personnel of the SUC medicalized ambulance were located, who confirmed her death.
Local Police officers collaborated with the rest of the emergency resources and the Civil Guards intervened in the device deployed in the area and carried out the corresponding proceedings.
