A 68-year-old man was evacuated by the GES helicopter from La Graciosa to Lanzarote this Thursday after suffering choking on the eighth island, according to the Security and Emergencies Consortium.
After being alerted by a witness, at around 09:19 hours the firefighters quickly headed to the port of La Graciosa where the man, who suffered a cardiorespiratory arrest, was located.
Upon arriving at the scene, a local police officer was performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers on the person, so the officers proceeded to use a semi-automatic defibrillator (AED) to administer a shock.
Once the health resources arrived and stabilized him, he was transferred by ambulance to the health center to later be evacuated by helicopter to the Doctor José Molina Orosa Hospital in Lanzarote.
