The City Council of Haría and the Cabildo of Lanzarote condemn several cases of animal poisoning registered in the towns of Máguez and Guinate. During the day this Monday, agents of the Environment of the Cabildo, in collaboration with the Local Police of the municipality, carried out inspection and collection of corpses, among which were two podencos, several cats and a hedgehog.

The Councilor for Animal Welfare, Marcos Lemes, said that "these acts are absolutely reprehensible and constitute an attack against coexistence, respect for life and animal care."

"We are working closely with the Cabildo in the investigations of these events and we appeal to citizen responsibility to report any suspicious behavior," added the councilor.

For his part, the Minister of Environment, Samuel Martín, said that "these poisonings not only affect animals, but also represent a real risk to the safety of people."
"While the origin of these deaths is being investigated, we ask all neighbors and visitors to take extreme precautions in the mentioned areas," concluded the councilor.

The towns of Máguez and Guinate are currently under surveillance and monitoring, with the aim of clarifying what happened and preventing new incidents.
