National Police agents, assigned to the Drugs and Organized Crime Unit (UDYCO) of the Provincial Judicial Police Brigade of Las Palmas, in collaboration with the Operational Intervention and Support Group - Special Unit (GOIA-U.E.) of the Local Police of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, have dismantled an active drug sales point located in the San José neighborhood.

After intense months of investigation, the operation within the framework of the fight against drug trafficking resulted in the arrest of two people, the main suspect being known as "El Guaca," a habitual offender with 47 prior arrests and a criminal record marked by 24 years of definitive sentences related to crimes against public health.

His partner was arrested alongside him, as she also participated in the direct sale of drugs to consumers who came to the property, which had strong security measures to prevent a possible police intervention, as well as a network of "lookouts"—drug addicts who watched the surroundings in exchange for doses, alerting them to the presence of officers.

This organization kept the point of sale active 24 hours a day, generating a serious deterioration in neighborhood coexistence, with more than 155 police interventions and 70 reports for possession or consumption of drugs within a radius of 200 meters around the property so far this year, evidence of the criminal impact of this point of sale.

Last Tuesday, October 14, and with the authorization of the competent Court, an entry and search procedure was carried out that allowed the seizure of, among other items: 1.3 kilos of heroin, including 248 heat-sealed packages ready for sale; 88 doses of "crack" prepared for distribution; more than 400 grams of cocaine; more than 17,000 euros in fractional cash; jewelry and numerous knives.

Specialized units also participated in the operation, such as the GOES (Special Security Operations Group), the UPR (Prevention and Reaction Unit), as well as Special Systems, Underground, and Canine Units, ensuring a coordinated and safe intervention.

During the registration day, numerous residents came to thank the police for their actions, expressing their relief at the end of a hotspot for insecurity and drug trafficking that had affected the neighborhood for years.

Once the police procedures are completed, the detainees will be placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority.
