A 27-year-old man has been accused of allegedly stealing more than 90,000 euros from a store in the Irish city of Celbridge on July 17, where he entered with a hammer and forced the manager to open the safes before fleeing to Lanzarote a day later, according to the newspaper The Irish Times.

At the time of the events, the manager was opening the store early in the morning, when two men, one armed with a hammer, allegedly threatened to kill him and forced him to open safes. In addition, he allegedly threatened the manager to get rid of the security images.

After the robbery, the accused posted videos of cash on the social network Snapchat, giving details about what happened. In addition, he wrote to his friends telling them that he had stolen more than 90,000 euros, according to the Irish media.

A day after this robbery, he flew to Lanzarote and bought a return flight to Belfast on July 27, which he did not travel on. His lawyer stated that there was no risk of flight because he had only gone on vacation to the island. Later, he returned to Ireland because his partner was pregnant and had to go for a medical check-up, the defense explained.

After the police searched his home, 27,870 euros were found of the more than 90,000 stolen.

For these acts, the accused is in preventive detention and the judge imposed a bail of 3,000 euros, but having to hand over his passport and comply with a curfew.
