Maritime Rescue has rescued five crew members of a sailboat that was stranded south of Isla de Lobos, according to the agency. It was the occupants of the boat themselves who, at 1.54 hours, alerted the Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (CCS) of their situation.
According to Maritime Rescue, it was a failure in the anchoring that caused the crew members to be adrift. After the notice to the CCS, the Helimer 201 helicopter and the Salvamar Al Nair were mobilized. Finally, the helicopter was in charge of transferring the crew members to the César Manrique Airport of Lanzarote.
The crew members, of German origin, have been rescued unharmed. The intervention ended at half past four in the morning on Wednesday, according to Salvamento.
