National Police agents have arrested five people as allegedly responsible for a crime of unlawful detention, within the framework of Operation Brida, an investigation carried out by the Specialized and Violent Crime Unit (UDEV) of the Superior Headquarters of the Canary Islands.
The events date back to March 19, 2025, when the victim was approached by three individuals in a street in the Siete Palmas neighborhood. The alleged perpetrators, dressed in black and with their faces partially hidden, beat him and forced him into a van.
The individuals bound the victim's hands, covered his mouth with duct tape, and threatened him with a firearm of the revolver type. They subsequently took him to another area of the island, where he remained held for a period of time.
During the journey, the alleged perpetrators allegedly changed the victim to another vehicle and finally released him in the municipality of Telde, after stealing his mobile phone and the keys to a high-end vehicle.
Following the investigation, agents located the first van used in the events, parked in an area of the capital. Inside, various items were found, and the vehicle also had a false license plate belonging to another vehicle of similar characteristics.
During the course of the investigation, a GPS device was located under the victim's vehicle, which had allegedly been placed to monitor his movements.
After various police actions, the agents managed to identify and arrest five people allegedly linked to the events. Once the police proceedings were completed, the detainees were placed at the disposal of the competent judicial authority, and one of them was ordered to be remanded in custody.
