Firefighters extinguished a fire in the laundry room of the Sand Beach Hotel in Costa Teguise in the early hours of this morning, according to the Emergency Consortium.

The security guard of the tourist complex alerted the CECOES at approximately 04:21 hours about the fire after observing a significant emission of dense black smoke. The emergency services quickly mobilized in vehicles Bravo 1 (Light Urban Pump) and Bravo 10 (Heavy Urban Pump).

Upon their arrival, the security guard waited for the firefighters at the main entrance of the hotel and led them to the access to the laundry room. Civil Guard agents were also present at the scene.

The security guard provided the access keys to the laundry room, located in a semi-basement, where they discovered a significant amount of black smoke coming from the access door. After that, they ventilated the premises to improve visibility and disconnected the electrical supply via an electrical panel.

Once the area was secured, they located the source of the fire, the affected surface area of which was approximately one square meter. The flames damaged the electrical wiring, the electric motors, and other belongings.

The emergency services extinguished the fire by applying water and subsequently began ventilation and inspection work. Likewise, after completing the ventilation of the premises affected by smoke and after verifying the absence of hot spots or risk of reignition, they informed the hotel staff of the need to inspect the affected electrical installation before putting it back into service.
