A fire declared this Friday, around 7:00 PM, on Palangre street in Playa Blanca has incinerated three glass collection containers and two metal cages for storing cardboard, in addition to affecting two nearby homes with smoke, according to the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote and La Graciosa.

The alert was received by the CECOES 1-1-2, which mobilized the firefighters after receiving notice of a container fire. Upon arrival, the personnel confirmed that the fire was fully developed and affected all five waste collection elements.

The firefighters established an attack line and managed to extinguish the flames by applying water in a sprayed pattern. Subsequently, they cooled the affected materials to prevent possible re-ignition.

The fire caused the total destruction of the three glass containers and the two metal cages for cardboard. Likewise, smoke and combustion gases reached two nearby homes, so the personnel proceeded to their natural ventilation until safe environmental conditions were re-established for their occupants.

Once the extinguishing efforts were completed, the firefighters conducted a thermal and visual inspection to ensure there were no residual hotspots or risk of re-ignition. After verifying that the area was safe, they informed the CECOES 1-1-2 of the service completion and returned to the base.

Local Police and Civil Guard personnel also participated in the intervention.
